Finish Line Volunteers

Santa Rita Park

June 12th - June 15th, 2024

Race Across the West (RAW) will once again be finishing at Santa Rita Park in Durango on June 12-15, 2024.  A companion race to Race Across America (RAAM), this annual cycling event will bring approximately 300 racers and crew, who have traveled over 900 miles from Oceanside, CA to Durango in four days or less. 

RAW is looking for volunteers to assist the race at the finish line during this year’s event. The earliest finisher is expected to arrive Thursday, June 13th, and the latest, Saturday, June 15th. Please join us in guiding them to the finish line, congratulating them on their great accomplishment, and experiencing the action first hand!

Positions needed:

  • Set-up Volunteers (Wednesday, June 12th, 2-4 pm) – Volunteers are need to assist the RAW Finish Line Manager set-up the finish line at Santa Rita Park, including erecting the inflatable finish line arch, setting fencing, etc.

  • Flaggers – Volunteers are needed to assist the Finish Line Manager with each race finish, including guiding the racers along the finishing course in Santa Rita Park, heading out medals, and informing Race Headquarters of the finishing times. Racers may finish any time day or night starting the morning of Thursday, June 13th until race cut-off on Saturday, June 15th at 12:00 pm. Volunteer shifts will be generally 6 hours - 12am-6am, 6am-12pm, 12pm-6pm, and 6pm-12am.

  • Tear-down Volunteers (Saturday, June 15th, 1-3 pm) – Volunteers are need to assist the RAW Finish Line Manager tear down the finish line at Santa Rita Park.

 

Volunteers will receive a RAAM t-shirt to wear during the event. Get to work with the racers first-hand and experience their amazing accomplishments up-close. Additionally, volunteers are eligible to receive a 25% discount off the entry fee to other RAAM produced events, including Texas Hell Week (plus the Stampede 200 and Longhorn 500)the Silver State 508 and Motherlode 200, and the 6-12-24 Hour World Time Trial Championships.
